Co-founders Joon Yang & Rich Lim felt stuck in the same sugar trap that all Americans deal with daily: Rich felt concerned about his family’s health struggles with sugar, while Joon was looking for a better choice for his kids that didn’t taste like a chemistry experiment.
The answer was in mom's pantry all along. Inspired by Korea's tradition of fermenting rice into a sweetener syrup, they upgraded the science and made OLILO from sugarcane.
OLILO is a sweet, plant-based syrup made from fructooligosaccharides (FOS). The molecule has a long name, but it’s just the fiber you find in plants like bananas, onions and garlic. We crafted ours from sugarcane. It’s just the right amount of “sweetness” with a clean, neutral taste like sugar.
